1- What is the "big idea" (theme) in this book?
The Main idea in the book is that there should be live in peace, and that you should be happy with what u have, be happy to have a roof over your head

2-What were your thoughts, ideas and opinions about the "big idea" before beginning this novel?
At the beginning I thought that it was about surviving since the name of the book is " The Hunger Games". I also thought that is was about death since there was a bird catching an arrow on the front of the cover and also the cover was black which in my eyes represents sadness and death.

3-What do you think now?
Now that I have read the book, I think that the book was all about courage, sadness and death.

4-In the novel, the world is a better place because...
I personally I don’t think that the world was a better place in the novel because, there was allot of killing hungering and most of the time luck is needed to survive. You have to be lucky and hope that you aren’t the one who is going to be called out for the Games.

5-I could make the world a better place by...
The world would be a better place if there weren’t any Games in the Arena. Because the Games are a horrible thing. So many children get killed.

Katniss would not join the Vancouver Riots because she is a smart girl. She has a lot of problems of her own and I could not imagine her wanting to cause more problems to her family and herself. Katniss dad died and ever since she is the one that is feeding her sister and her depressed mom; therefor Katniss would be too worried trying to feed herself and her family that she would never think about being part of some useless trouble causing Riot. In conclusion Katniss would not join the riot; because she is a very smart girl also she has many other things to worry about.

This picture shows a little girl crying. I choose this picture, because in the novel the hunger games lots of innocent people suffer. They die from starvation ,and are treated badly. Being wiped for going over the fence that surrounds district 12 ,and killed for standing up to the captol. When Prim gets called for the hunger games, Katniss knows that her sister would die, therefore Katniss has decided to take her little sisters spot knowing that the chances of her surviving are low. Her family and friends suffer allot knowing that Katniss is facing people that have trained there whole life for the hunger games. But giving up is only a mistake, even though there are strict rules, and breaking one could cost your life.

.Text to world- The hunger games is about a boy and a girl form every district that have to fight in a big arena and kill each other. My connection to this is text to world because it remainders me of war. People in the Hunger Games suffer and so do our soldiers now a days when they have to go to war, and fight. They leave there families behind and hope that they will be able to spend the next Christmas with them. In the Hunger games people too leave their family and friends and hope that the best will turn out.

Test to self- My connection I decided to make was text to self because, in Egypt I remember going to the beach with my friend, and being chassed by a group of wild dogs. My friend and I ran to the ocean and jumped in. This reminds me of when Katniss and Petta got chased by a pack of wolfs, and if they haven’t climbed that tree the wolfs would have killed them both. I made this connection because both Katniss and I have been in critical situations, were if something wasn’t there, we both could have gotten injured. For example if that tree wasn’t there Katniss and Petta wouldn’t have overcome the wolfs, and if the ocean wasn’t right in front of my friend and Is noses the wild dogs could have injured us.

Predictions
The clues that the title page gives are an arrow and a bird. I think that this symbol represents hunting, surviving and competition.
